After a night at the Ramada, we got up and checked out. We went to Subway for breakfast before heading back onto the M40 to complete our journey to Calcutt Boats. The van felt good to drive again and we made good progress arriving at Calcutt Boats at around 11.30. Me and the dogs stayed in the van as it was pouring with rain whilst John went to check on Merlin. We could see her moored up at the Boatyard so we were hopeful that she was ready for us to go on board.
John met with the mechanic who went through everything they had done on the engine and then we were able to get back on board.
The work they had done at Calcutt Boats was exceptional, we are both really pleased and it looks and sounds like we have a new engine. The mechanics had also done extra work as some smaller faults had been found whilst rebuilding the engine which was really good and the overall cost was well within budget. We can not praise them enough and would highly recommend them to other boaters. Thank you Roger and all your team for your help, guidance and support through the process.
It was really good to be back on board and after a couple of weeks on Gwynevere (which we thoroughly enjoyed) the boat felt very spacious and certainly felt like being back home. The dogs seemed pleased to be home as well.
So we are spending a night on board in the boatyard before heading to Wigrams Turn Marina for a few days to clean Gwynevere and sort out everything before heading on our next adventure down the Oxford Canal. Once again Calcutt Boats came up trumps and allowed us to moor on the boatyard for the night with an electric hook up.
This will be my last blog for the Gwynevere adventure but look forward to updating everyone on our Oxford adventure very shortly.
