An early start at Tyrley today as we had at least 10 locks to go through, 5 at Tyrley and 4 Adderley. The weather was really lovely, probably the best we have had on this trip, sunshine all the way. The bottom lock at Turley was the start of the day and we hoped that we would have a quiet cruise through the locks as we started so early but the locks were quite busy but in the end it helped us quite a bit as most of the locks were set in our favour. I am not sure why but going down the locks always seems easier. We got through Tyrley locks in good time and then had a pleasant cruise through Market Drayton which looked very nice indeed and plenty of boats moored up and some lovely private moorings as well. We saw a good example of a world war two guard hut which was used by the home guards or local army unit. We had a couple of cuttings again today but not as dark or isolated, in fact this was probably the best day on the Shroppie for us. Then we came to the 5 locks at Adderley, again they were pretty busy but most of the locks were in our favour again. We had planned to stop after Adderley Locks but as we had made good time we decided to do the first top locks at Audlem to make it a bit easier tomorrow. We were glad we did as we came across Panda’s Pantry which had homemade cakes, pasties, pork pies for sale with an honesty box so we bagged ourselves 2 pasties, 2 pork pies, 2 Tiffin and 2 scones with jam and cream. Very nice indeed. We moored up at Coxbank, not a lot around so it should be a nice quiet evening and plenty of space for the dogs to walk. Quite a lot of boats joined us as the day went on. We also managed to let Georgie off her lead a couple of times to get her used to recall so all in all a good day. Eren is now back off the lead and is loving life but she is being a little too adventurous sometimes at the locks!!!!
