Rain this morning but it was only for an hour so we decided that we would walk to Merlin's Bridge again today but take a different route.  We left the house at about 1.15 and headed for the Bridge via High Street, Dew Street and then past Tesco's.  We did a quick detour into Tesco for some provisions before heading down towards Merlin's Hill.  The walk was very pleasant and again we passed loads of places that brought back memories.  The walk up High Street does not get any easier.  It was very sad to see so many local shops now boarded up and the High Street is a pretty bleak and sad place.  When I was younger the street was full of local shops, cafe's and a hive of activity.  Indeed the whole town is looking very sad and unloved which is such a shame.

We walked back from Merlin's Bridge via the Clay Lanes, this is the place where as a child we spent many hours cycling, picking blackberries and primroses (it was allowed in those days).  We would climb on top of Haroldston Ruins and play games and have a great day out.  We also passed the Alderwicks Pop factory which is now closed, again fond memories of calling into the factory on one of our trips down the Clay Lanes and getting reject pop bottles.  Very fond memories.

We got back to the house around 4pm and again the dogs were tired and spent the evening sleeping.

John and I got up into the attic to bring all the boxes down as the house will be put up for sale shortly.  The end of an era.  However we did find some lovely photos of my mum and dad on holiday which I had not seen before.
