My mum and dad's house is on the side of the river Cleddau so the garden was looking lovely today and we sat outside with the dogs in the morning. In the afternoon we went to visit family but instead of taking the campervan we decided to walk to Merlin's Bridge and back. It is around a 2 and half mile walk so we took plenty of water for the dogs and gave ourselves plenty of time for the walk.
We set out at about 1.30 along Freeman's Way which takes you to Merlin's Bridge roundabout, it is a busy bypass but the footpath is very wide and easy level walking. After spending time with family we decided to walk back to Scotchwell Park via the Green and the Parade. This gave me the opportunity to point out places of interest to John and places that brought back memories from my time growing up in Haverfordwest.
It was a long walk back as we had to go up Merlin's Hill and then down the 99 steps so we stopped a few times for a rest. Even the dogs were a bit fed up by the time we got back into the town centre.
It always amazes me that I lived in or around the town for over 40 years but I never see anyone I know.
We stopped at the Bristol Trader for a drink to recharge our batteries before heading back to Scotchwell for a well earned rest.
The dogs were pretty tired and slept most of the evening.
