Our final morning in Abergavenny so we were up early to pack up the awning and chairs ready for a short trip to Lydney in Gloucestershire.  We were on the road by about 10 after saying goodbye to the lovely couple Howie and Val who we had met whilst in Abergavenny.  We headed back into Abergavenny town centre to get some fuel and then we headed off on the A40.  The journey was going quite well until we came across a road block and had to follow a diversion which took us down some very narrow roads, but we finally got to the campsite by about half 12.

The campsite is the Blacksmith Arms and it is a field located at the back of the pub, unfortunately there was no one around when we arrived which did not feel very friendly.  John called a phone number on the door and they just told us to pick any spot and then come into the pub when they opened at 7.30 to pay for balance.  Not a very good start however when we finally set up the van and sat outside in the lovely weather the camp site was quite nice and very peaceful.

We took a walk up into the village of Alvington and then had a lovely light lunch at the Globe pub.  Very friendly pub, lovely atmosphere and dog friendly.

After lunch we headed back to the campsite to sit and relax in the sun.  The dogs were on their spikes so could explore the surroundings.  Eren as usual decided to dig a great big hole which Georgie promptly sat in but Eren soon made her move and settled into the hole herself.

We had a supper on the van and John popped down to the Blacksmith Arms to pay our bill but did not stay for a drink, we will take a visit tomorrow evening as the pub is also dog friendly.  He did bring back a big bag of pickled onion Monster Munch which I have not had for years.  Lovely.
