Awoke to a much nicer day today, even a bit of sun. The Generator is arriving at Kings Bromley Marina today so the plan is to move the boat onto the Stafford and Worcestershire Canal as we have been travelling on the Trent and Mersey so far. Then John will get a taxi and go back to Kings Bromley to collect the generator later. We were up quite early and took the dogs for a long walk from Colwich Lock right down to the junction for the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. It was not too busy so the plan was to move Merlin down to the visitor moorings at the junction and then when the water was free we would fill up with water and diesel and empty the toilet and rubbish. The walk to the junction and back to the boat took about an hour but it gave the dogs a lovely long walk. Once back at the boat we then set off down to the Junction. There were boats on the water point so we walked a little way along the Staffs and Worcs Canal to find the visitor moorings which we planned to stay at overnight. When we came back to the junction the water point was empty so we moved the boat onto the water point and filled her up with water and diesel. John then reversed the boat back up the canal so we could turn at the junction and cruise to the visitor moorings. Great Haywood Junction is very nice, with camping facilities canal side. There is also the Anglo Welsh boat hire company which has a cafe and small shop. Under the bridge there is a farm shop but we didn’t visit it today as our cupboards are overflowing.
We settled the boat at the visitor moorings and then John headed back to get the generator whilst I stayed on the boat with the dogs. A good chance to catch up on my programmes on TV. Below are some pictures of Haywood Junction and our overnight mooring.
