So this morning we got up to lots of sunshine and the plan today is to travel to Tixall Wide which is a beautiful part of the canal with a nature reserve. The canal widens at this point and is flanked by wetland on one side and Tixall Gatehouse on the other side. In the distance there are beautiful views of Cannock Chase. Before heading off on our journey today we had a long walk along the canal with the dogs. They love the towpath with all the different smells. Georgie also loves meeting other dogs and being fussed by other walkers on the towpath. Later John walked back to the canal farm shop and bought some amazing black pudding and mushrooms for breakfast. He also got some chicken with brie and cranberry for our supper tonight. We will get the opportunity to visit the farm shop on the way back to Kings Bromley again. The journey to Tixall was beautiful and very tranquil. Lots of hired boats were on the move but everyone was cheerful. It's amazing how the sunshine brings out the best in people. Below are some videos of the journey and pictures of Tixall Wide. Last week the swans came to eat our bread but today they came and decided to eat the algae off our boat. The noise was really loud inside the boat but who can resist the little signets.
