An early start this morning as we wanted to get on the canal nice and early before all the hire boats started moving. We walked the dogs and then gave them breakfast but we decided to start moving and stop somewhere on the canal for our breakfast. The weather was quite nice, a bit grey but at least it was not raining. A few minutes into our cruising we had to do the first lock of the day at Tixall Wide but thankfully only two locks on our entire journey today. I tried to take Eren and Georgie with me to do the lock but they were too excitable so ended up putting them back on the boat instead. One day they will get used to it. After about an hours cruising we stopped for our breakfast of bacon and sausage rolls, then we headed on towards Acton Trussell. Quite a short journey today but a very pleasant one. After walking the dogs we went over the the Moat House Hotel for a well deserved drink. The pub is dog friendly so Eren and Georgie came with us as well. It was a lovely pub and the staff were really friendly. When we came back to the boat we were quite surprised that no one had moored near us for the night so we spent a very peaceful evening listening to music before heading off to bed.
